Migrating from PhraseExpress Server to NAS/Cloud sync
To switch from using the (retired) PhraseExpress Server to NAS/Cloud synchronization:
- Install the new PhraseExpress version over the previous version.
- PhraseExpress v16 can still connect to the PhraseExpress Server and shows the server phrase file node.
- Click "File » Open » Local phrase file" and type in the name for a new phrase file.
- Confirm to add the new phrase file as a new file node (do NOT select "replace").
- Copy/Move the phrases from the PhraseExpress Server node to the new phrase file node you just created.
- Unload the PhraseExpress Server node in the PhraseExpress client.
- De-register the license keys in the PhraseExpress Client Manager if your licenses have remaining maintenance. Those can be continued to be used in the new installation.
- Uninstall the PhraseExpress Server.
- Configure file synchronization for the new local phrase file to share the phrases with other users.
Important: Launch the PhraseExpress client under a user account which grants you access to all phrases you wish to export!
