Troubleshooting

The section "Frequently Asked Questions" contain our accumulated knowledge from 20 years of customer service and helps to solve "99%" of all problems.

Please go through the tips carefully and step-by-step. Please do not skip obvious tips, such as restarting a computer, as it still often work wonders.

You can also try to reset program settings to default values.

Diagnostic mode

If you cannot fix the issue with the troubleshooting tips, the diagnostic mode may help to find the issue.

To launch PhraseExpress in diagnostic mode:
  1. In the PhraseExpress program settings, enable option "Features » Diagnostic mode".

  2. Restart PhraseExpress. It will launch in diagnostic mode which captures extended system information until you switch it off again.

  3. Reproduce the problem and then afterwards immediately(!) exit PhraseExpress.

PhraseExpress created the debug file "Debug_PhraseExpress_xx-xx-xxxx_xx.xx.txt" in a folder on your desktop. Review this file in any text editor for any obvious error message. Alternatively, review this file in any text editor and remove any confidential information which may have been recorded and send the file to us with a precise step-by-step description that allows us to reproduce the steps.

You can then disable the diagnostic mode.

You can alternatively launch PhraseExpress on a case-by-case basis by holding the SHIFT-key while launching the program. Another option is to launch PhraseExpress with the command-line parameter "-debug" (without "").
